Gary Wright has joined us with
the main role of Skipper, Instructor, Yacht Maintenance and
Owner & Charter Support.
Gary has been in and around water since he was 16, when he
joined the Royal Navy as Junior Seaman (Radar), working up
the ranks to Petty Officer. He has worked on Frigates,
Destroyers and Aircraft Carriers and later transferred to
the Fleet Air Arm as an Aircraft Controller on Warships and
at Naval Stations.
After leaving the Royal Navy, Gary joined the HM Coastguard
Station at MRCC Falmouth as Watch Officer for 5 years,
before joining the Merchant Navy. Gary has also been in the
Royal Fleet Auxiliary as a Helicopter Controller / Second
Officer of the Watch, carrying out trips in the Gulf, Iraq
and Counter Drug Operations in the Caribbean with the US
Coast Guard. Following on from this, Gary joined the Flag
Officer Sea Training Staff in Plymouth to instruct and help
new cadet Controllers.
In 2002, Gary moved to Menorca with his new wife Tracey.
Gary's work in Menorca has been yacht maintenance, training,
skippering and charter support on motor yachts from 30' to
60'.
Gary is now a commercially endorsed Skipper and Instructor
and is fully qualified in First Aid, Sea Survival, Radar
Operations and VHF
Radio. His hobbies include Rugby (supports Northampton
Saints), Cricket (played for Menorca Cricket Club), Walking
and spending time with the Family. |
